Pilates is suitable for almost everyone. Regular practice will help you improve your body's functional ability to perform everyday tasks, reduce aches and pains and help reduce stress levels. Pilates wasn't designed to be a weight loss programme, however, taking regular classes, you will find that your body becomes more toned and streamlined. Pilates classes will give you a sense of wellbeing and achivement that you're doing something good for your body and mind, and especially if you're having persistent aches and pains, the relief that Pilates can help provide can be life-changing. Class numbers are limited so that I can give everyone enough attention,as I check and help correct your form throughout the class. Classes run in half term blocks, which are payable as a block booking. However, as a new client, you can pay for your first class as a stand alone, to make sure that it's right for you, without any commitment. Clients taking more than one class a week will benefit from loyalty discounts. Please see the pricing section on the class timetable page for details.
My classes are suitable for all levels, from beginners to experienced, as different modifications and progressions will be given so that everyone can work at their preferred level. I will teach you the basic Pilates' principles of correct alignment, breathing and core engagement to ensure that everyone masters these to get the most out of our classes. The focus in Pilates is on performing each exercise in a controlled manner, being precise and ensuring correct form throughout. Pilates is not a competition, so everyone is encouraged to focus on their own practice and gradually improving their individual strength, range of movement and posture.
All mats and small equipment such as blocks, bands, balls and circles are provided, so you just need to bring yourself, in some comfy clothes that you're able to move in. Fitted is best so that I can more easily observe your form during the class, but please just wear whatever you feel most comfortable in. You will get warm, so layers you can take off are good too. Pilates is usually done barefoot, but feel free to bring some grippy socks if you prefer. And bring some water with you so that you can stay hydrated throughout. You can also bring your own mat too if you prefer.
